La Puerta Real was founded in 1972 by Francisco Núñez Romero at No. 2 Calle Consistorio in Jerez de la Frontera, beside the city’s old walls — and the royal gate that gives the business its name.

In 1982, aged just 15, José María Galisteo, the founder’s nephew, joined the workshop and learned the craft from the ground up. When his uncle passed away in 1996, he took over the business with the same passion and dedication.

Today we are three generations of watchmakers, members of Spain’s National Professional Association of Watch Repairers (ANPRE) and restorers accredited by the Regional Government of Andalusia — one of the few fine watchmaking workshops in the whole province.

And the third generation is already at the bench: José María Galisteo Martínez, heir to the craft — learning from the ground up with a single aim: to surpass the very best.
